2 out of 5 stars Insanely loud   March 25, 2007

When this toy is turned on it seriously sounds like an air-raid siren is going off. I can't use my usual trick of putting tape over the speaker because you need to be able to hear the instructions to play the games.

Also, the counting/shape game is confusing. There is a row of shapes with numbers on them, and the game asks the child to, for example, find 3 rectangles. It's trying to get the child to press the rectangle shape three times, but the rectangle shape is marked with the number 8. There's a circle marked with the number 3.

The only reason I'm not giving this one star is because my son enjoys playing the "repeat the tone" and "count the villians" games. I'm not sure how much longer the adults in the house can handle the siren noise, though, I may try to hide this and get him a leapfrog toy instead.

This was smaller than I had thought but I didnt read the measurements. It was a little too advanced for my 3 1/2 yr old grandson but he has learned some from it. My granddaughter really likes it and its great for boys because of the sound effects. If you are looking for a cute little tag along game for your boy this would be great in my opinion.

3 out of 5 stars Great learning tool   January 18, 2007

My 3 yr old son loves this laptop. The only thing I wish it had is a volume control. When it starts up, it makes a noise of "danger" and almost always scares whoever is sitting near it. My son even thinks it's funny to turn it off and then back on just to hear it again. The screen is really small and the voice is sometimes hard to understand, but overall it is a good learning tool.

The games are simple and my son is very entertained and feels accomplished when he gets the right answers.
