The Ironman stroller is designed specifically for Moms whose passion, other than her new baby, is running marathons or competing in triathlons. This high-tech sport-utility stroller keeps kids weighing up to 70 pounds comfortable for miles and miles of road. The tripod-shaped frame has sturdy suspension that absorbs 3 inches of wheel movement to improve the maneuverability, distribute children's weight evenly, and reduce the amount of bouncing and vibration--even when used on a potholed or unpaved dirt road. The rugged 16-inch-diameter polymer tires are also safe for off-road use and have a lower rolling resistance to minimize the chance of the Ironman taking off downhill on its own. Unlike most strollers, the Ironman also has a front wheel with adjustable tracking for precision performance. For a sport-utility stroller of this size, the Ironman is amazingly lightweight, coming in at just over 20 pounds, which is owed in part to the light yet durable stainless-steel spokes and aluminum rims. The stroller also measures a narrow 15 inches wide so it cruises just as easily through store aisles as it does on the road. Compact folding is done easily with the Ironman by folding the frame in half two times and then folding the wheels in on either side. Kids are safely strapped into the Ironman's partially reclining seat with a padded five-point harness and are shaded by a built-in canopy. For additional safety, there is a hand brake and wrist strap on the stroller's push bar. This stroller for hard-core exercise enthusiasts is a brilliant yellow that is highly visible to passing cars. It is recommended for babies from 6 to 8 weeks old and up and should not be used off-road until babies are at least 6 to 8 months old. --Cristina Vaamonde

3 out of 5 stars NOT FOR TWISTING GREENBELTS   May 19, 2006
Christopher Dibkey
I purchased this stroller thinking it would be the ultimate running stroller. The quality is great, but it can be a chore to manuever. We have winding greenbelts around our neighborhood and my wife gave up trying to use it. The return process was also a challenge. They will not return this stroller at your local store, even after a Amazon rep stated they would. I am waiting for my credit to try the revolution, which has a swivel front wheel.

4 out of 5 stars Best Choice Available--But Room For Improvement   March 16, 2006

After researching jogging strollers, reading hundreds of reviews and several books and consumer guides, I took the leap of faith to spend $300+ on this jogging stroller. And I must say, it was money well spent. This truly is the ultimate jogging stroller, with great space and secure harness for the baby while also delivering on the suspension side. Possibly my favorite user-friendly feature is how well the brakes work...when I first started working out after having the baby, running was too hard so I bought rollerblades (brave, I know). Those brakes saved my bacon more than once, I loved them. Furthermore, once I completely ate it (crashed) but thankfully I had the wrist strap attached. I was banged up, but of course the only thing I could think of is crazy woman, is your baby okay--and she was. The jogger stopped because of the wrist tether attachment, flipped back, and my little darling was comfortable as could be looking up at the sky and clouds. Thanks to a great stroller, only one of us got banged up! Additionally, it's clear to me that this stroller is so well built that it will last many, many years, and handle many, many trails. The other jogging strollers' main drawbacks were a multitude of complaints that they were shoddily built, which is clearly not the case here.

There is one area this jogging stroller could ABSOLUTELY improve, considering we've been able to put a man on the moon. My #1 complaint is how BIG it is, and it does NOT fold down...the BOB research team needs to step it up and figure out a way to fold this stroller up compactly to fit into smaller spaces. We live in a condo, and wow this thing takes up a lot of room. I can't live without it, but what a pain to store. If they could solve this problem, not only could it fit into an actual car (we have a Ford Excursion, so that's cheating--no way this would fit into a car trunk) but it could also fit into a closet for storage. That improvement would truly make this the ultimate jogging stroller.

5 out of 5 stars Easily the best running stroller on the market   March 2, 2006

I've had my BOB Ironman for nearly two years now and I still think it's the best running stroller on the market, especially if you plan to actually use it as a running stroller. As some of the other reviewers noted, the BOB is not ideal for trips to the mall; it's simply too large for that. However, the BOB was primarily designed for running, and it absolutely excels in that singular purpose.

What makes the BOB so great is its lightweight and the ease with which it folds. If you're a serious runner then you will really appreciate the fact that it weighs less than 21 lbs.; a fact you will truly appreciate as your kid ages and gets heavier and heavier. And the BOB is incredibly easy to fold. In addition, the wheels have quick release latches so the entire stroller can be in the trunk of the car in less than a minute.

I have never had a problem with the BOB, and a couple shots of lubricant from time to time on the suspension pieces eliminates any squeaking. I've never had a problem with straight line tracking. I also have the fuzzy seat (for colder climates) and the handlebar console, both of which I highly recommend.

If you're a serious runner and want a stroller specfically designed for running, then the BOB Ironman is the only game in town.

5 out of 5 stars Great   February 28, 2006

If you are looking for the best jogging stroller out there, the BOB Ironman is it. This stroller has exceeded all of my personal expectations and beyond. This stroller is very easy to put together (I did it by myself) and is so lightweight that I could pick up the box with the stroller inside. The sun shade is great, the design allows to get much more coverage then most others and has different positions, that actually stay in place compared to others that are either back or forward. The straps even fit my son, who at 6 1/2 months is about 16.5 lbs and 27" long. Basically what I am saying is that he's small and where other jogging strollers are designed for a specific size of baby, the Ironman still had more room to make the straps even smaller. The construction is quality, you can tell in the look and feel that this stroller is durable but also comfortable. The material is thick and sturdy, there is fuzzy padding around the neck straps and you can also adjust the position of the seat. The ride is very smooth and is not difficult to push. Even over bumps, we heard no complaints. I watched our son on our first runs and could see that he was not being tossed around or bobbled at all. It is not bulky and can fold up so quick and easy. My husband and I love this stroller and would recommend to anyone looking for a top quality jogger.

5 out of 5 stars Great jogger, not for store aisles   December 9, 2005

I just got my ironman, and have a mixed usage for it. 1.) carrying my 40 pounds of camera gear on trails. 2.)carrying my 9 month old grand-daughter around when she is visiting.

The build and quality is superb. I have heard other reviewers say they have tracking problems. I don't think there isn't anything here that a good bicycle mechanic can't solve. If you can't adjust your own bike, you may or may not be able to fix minor problems with this.

The folding I think is very excellent.

My fore warning is don't expect this to maneuver easily in store aisles, quite contrary to the Amazon description of "cruise easily . . . store aisles". The problem there is maneuverability because all three wheels go only straight. If you want to be able to do both, consider the B.O.B. Revolution, but for rough trails, or high speed running stick with the Ironman.
