They're Strong and They Stick, but They Don't Look So Good October 30, 2008

As I work in the I.T. field, I find myself typing a great deal with a computer keyboard. I also work with a lot of computer hardware components with sharp and rough edges, so it is very common for me to have small cuts and abrasions on my fingertips. So I'm sure you can imagine how painful it is for me to continue typing on a keyboard with these cuts on the ends of my fingers. Sure, I can run to the company's First-Aid kit and grab one of those generic fingertip bandages, but they don't stick well, and their stiff material makes it difficult for me to feel the keys and type accurately. That is why I always bring my own Band-Aid brand Tough-Strips, Finger Care bandages to work with me.
These bandages have a heavy duty fabric construction, with a very strong adhesive surface. These puppies stay in place, even when they get wet from repeated hand washings throughout the day. The fabric material breathes well also, so the skin under the bandage doesn't become all pale and shriveled, like it does with those cheap, plastic bandages. They are also extremely flexible, allowing my fingers to bend freely, even when the bandages are applied on knuckles joints of the finger. I love these Band-Aid brand Finger-Care Tough-Strips so much that I buy them in 6-box multi-packs from Amazon. Each box contains 10 wrap around strips, measuring 1" x 3-1/4", with one end that tapers, and 5 knuckle bandages, measuring 1-1/2" x 3-1/4", with cutouts on each end to easily wrap around knuckle joints.
Even though these are my favorite finger bandages, they are not quite perfect. My biggest complaint is that they start becoming frayed at the edges, causing ugly threads to hang, which sometimes get snagged when I am repairing equipment with my hands. After wearing them for only a few hours, they become very tattered and ugly looking. It becomes embarrassing when I have to meet and shake hands with a program director or project manager, while I have this unsightly bandage on my finger. But I have learned to trim the frayed edges with a scissors, from time to time, in order to limit the eyesore somewhat. I am willing to put up with the poor look of this Tough-Strip bandage since it works so well in every other manner.
So for long-term looks I give this product 2 stars. But the adhesive properties, flexible and breathable fabric, and overall comfort of this bandage is worth 5 stars. Overall I am rating the Band-Aid brand Finger-Care Tough-Strips 4 stars. I honestly feel these are the best finger bandages on the market today.
