The Holmes Metallic Architectural Lamp is an ideal design for use as a desk or computer lamp where flexibility of position is a top criterion. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get my lamp joints to tighten sufficiently to maintain the desired position. It won't hold an adjustment.
I guess for the money you can't expect a fully functional product. My advise? Go to Ikea, spend a little more, and get a lamp that really works as designed.

The lamp looks and functions as expected and clamps easily to my desktop. I use a 13 watt compact florescent bulb instead of the recommended 60 watt incandescent bulb. That works just fine and produces the equivalent amount of light while operating much cooler and using less energy.
