Burn on notice August 22, 2008 JBird I have been using Coppertone Sport SPF 30 for a few years and was happy to see the SPF 50 version. It claims to block both UVA and UVB rays. The SPF rating is generally against UVB rays, which can burn the skin. For this, the product does a great job. We don't know the SPF rating of protection against the UVA rays. The product is non-greasy and holds up well through four-hour bike rides and longer. It is recommended that the product be re-applied after a few hours, but I recommend washing off the old before applying new. The lotion can begin to cake up with too much application, since, as the product advertises, it does not run and stays put!
Best I Have Used Yet June 26, 2008 Lurch77 I am very fair skinned, and so I sunburn very easily. I never tan, just burn. It's a curse. So all my life I have used various sunblocks from all the manufacturers. Some were absolutely horrible, letting me burn even with a gallon of their lotion on. This is not the case with this Coppertone Sport SPF50. My job has me doing maintenance on roof top heating and air conditioning units all day long in the hot sun. I smear a small bit of this lotion on all exposed skin about 8 or 9am, and I am good to go until 5pm or so when I get off work. And this includes me sweating like an ice cold Coke on a hot day. I know, sounds too good to be true, a sunblock that last all day long. I was skeptical when I read other reviews claiming this. But for me it honestly does last all day with no new applications needed. Others claim it does not last as long for them. Maybe it has something to do with body chemistry. I have no idea, I'm not a scientist. There is one downside. When sweating heavily, I have found a little gets into my eyes from my forehead, producing a slight stinging like all sunblocks do. But it does not happen as often or as easily as other lotions I have tried. A swab of the forehead with a towel and all is good. I love this stuff, it's the best I have found yet. But it gets a 4 star because it still does get into my eyes a bit.
Great for outdoor sports December 13, 2007 William Beck (Woodbine, MD United States) This sunscreen works great for outdoor sports. Although I have light skin, I can stay in the sun from sunrise to sunset in the summer without getting burned, even while sweating. It is also one of the few sunscreens that I have tried that doesn't run into my eyes when my head is sweating.
Excellent product. for sports September 4, 2007 Anthony V. Tran (Orange County, CA) Last year, I've bought and use them from Costco last year but this year Costco carries the Banana Boat product. Great sunscreen for sports comparing to Banana Boat's. I've bought 6 (8/1/07) from Amazon in the first order then I've bought another 6 (8/20/07) from Amazon since it has %25 discount.
I have had better July 14, 2007 Beefynick (Ohio) I used this product when I was at the beach for 4 hours. It was pretty much useless. I applied before going into the water and every time I came out. I had to have put it on onece an hour or so. I ended up with a bad sunburn that I thought the product would prevent, but I was wrong. Maybe I just got a bad bottle or two seeing as everyone else likes this product, but from my experience I would not recommend it.
