Lots of white dust September 24, 2008 Nash Jaffer (Las vegas, NV USA) I have had this humidifier for about 2 years. It does increase the humidity level as advertised. However, it also generates a lot of white dust. I regularly (every month) change the filter filling that is supposed to demineralize the water, but it doesn't do anything about the white dust. The white dust got into all my electronics. It even caused the DVD player on the computer to stop working. I moved the humidifier into the bedroom and removed all electronics from there, except the clock radio. If we don't close the closet, the clothes get covered with the white dust. If it wasn't for the white dust, this would be an excellent humidifier.

I bought this humidifier after quite a bit of research, hesitating only due to the high price. Now, after eight months of use, I can say that it was worth it. Humidity level in the room is easy to maintain and the unit is very quiet. It is easy to fill and easy enough to clean if you use the recommended procedure at the recommended interval. I have not experienced any white dust from my unit which leaves me to believe that it depends on the water source. Be sure to soak the demineralization cartridge as directed. In summary I am very happy with my purchase.
The seller of this product (factory direct) is a liar June 28, 2008 X. Zhang (California) For this product, I can't say how it works, cause the one I got is a broken one, and there is even no manual/documents inside the box. Then in the following 2 weeks, I keep writing to the seller, I just got their call back once, after following her instruction, the humidifier still not working, and then she ask me to ship it back for repair, on my own shipping cost. I ordered a brand new and got sth like this, why should I responsible for the cost to send their trash back? And why should I got a repaired one instead of a brand new one? After I ask them to cover the cost to ship back, they said they gonna call me back, then, never call back again. I have to go to A-to-Z protection plan (thanks Amazon to have this protection program), and give the seller "1 start" rating. To my surprise, this time the seller response immediately. What I can't believe is the seller blindly lying that their product is in good condition (even that lady called me agree the product was broken and ask me send back to repair), and said that I refuse to communicate with them. I've sent them 8 emails in past 2 weeks, only got one call back, and then never have the further follow up, who is the one refuse to communicate?? Guess they just take the advantage that once we submit the rate, we can't reply to whatever their comments, so they can just blindly lying whatever they like, and keep fooling other customers. Maybe the humidifier is not bad, but the seller is the worst one I ever seen.
never June 25, 2008 Everett Aubin (Cranston, RI United States) I would never purchase an Air O Swiss anything again. After the first year, nothing works as when it was new. At first... it was better than sliced bread. After year 1, it had to be cleaned constantly and THAT expense, added to the purchase price was enough to make me cry uncle. Other's have indicated the futility of their customer service so I simply chalked it up as a lost cause. The unit is in my basement ready for my next yard sale as a giveaway.

I purhcased two of these humidifiers. One works wonderfully - I love it! The other came defective. Factory Direct took 48 hours to respond and offered no assistence other than to direct me to the manufacturer - stating that it was a warrenty issue. The seller is supposed to work with me for the first 30 days, as stated on Amazon. Fortunately, Air-O-Swiss was very helpful, but shouldn't Factory Direct accept a return or exchange when they ship you a defective item? I recommend this item be purchased at a more customer-friendly store like Bed Bath and Beyond.
