I'm so tired of buying important products that last only a year or 2. Show me a $300 Humidifier that will last me a decade and I'll buy it. I don't want to add to the trash on this planet, but now that the water sensors don't work, the product is nonoperational. So sad.

Bought mine through the Amazon vendor along with the extra pads and a relacement UV lamp. Mine is going 24/7... in my livingroom. I use a natural fireplace and this helps replace the moisture lost by burning wood. It also makes the inside temperature feel warmer when my furnace runs during the winter.
Anyway, I saw the photos the gentleman posted and all I can say is......he's got hard or heavy mineralized water. I have well water too...and had to have a Culligan softener installed PLUS an under the sink reverse osmosis system that has a separate faucet. My toilets, washer, sinks....even my hair ended up with reddish hughes from the amount of rust my water had. Then there was the lime and scale build up. This reverse osmosis removes 95% of minerals and rust from the Culligan system. I use this for cooking and beverages, and my iron, coffee maker and humidifier. I guarantee you this guy's never had his water tested for it's exact composition. Even with my Culligan system, the reverse osmosis that has a 3 filter system and the special pads for the slant/fin, I still notice some minor rusty discoloration on the plastic parts, the bottom of the pad well and sensor tips of the slant/fin... from the rust contained in my water, and once every 2 weeks have to wipe mine down and put in a fresh demineralization pad.
I like this 2 water container unit because it holds so much water, I dont have to fill it every day.
If you have city water, you might not have problems.....but if you live in Rural America and have a water well, then I dont care what appliance you buy, you're going to have mineral deposits/ build up unless you get a softener with a reverse osmosis unit and use the demineralization pads and then you'll still have to do some cleaning every couple 2 - 3 weeks.
So for me, I like this unit so far.....and I've had mine for 2 months now.
SlantFin GF350 Tank Cap Gasket December 17, 2007

After only two years, the gasket on the tank cap failed. I cannot find replacement parts. Apparently this is by design so that consumers will have to buy another complete humidifier. Well, I will buy another one, but it certainly won't be a Slant Finn. I would not recommend this purchase.

The photos that guy posted of rust and calcium are not believable! I have 2 Slant Fin GF 350's for probably 3 years now and they don't look like that. There is no way his could look like that after 5 days unless he has something very caustic in his water?
Love this humidifier except for the cleaning. It is manageable though. I just let the parts soak in vinegar water and scrub with an old toothbrush. No biggie and well worth it for the use I get out of it!
A Nice Slant on Humidity Control December 9, 2007

We purchased the GF350 3 years ago for our bedroom and liked it so much we bought another one for our family/living room. Both have worked great with no problems. We like the fact that the humidifier emits zero white dust, is very quiet, and most of all that it offers the dual ultraviolet germicidal water purification process before releasing the humidity mist into the air. The dual 3.5Gal tanks give us about 3 days of use before refils (running about 8-10hrs each night).
