This play pen is a life saver!! We bought it when my son was about 10 months & could push his other play pen around the room (there was no floor to the playpen, just like a round gate). He is now 20 months and we still use it for when we need to keep him contained. It is large enough for him to play with his toys in and he doesn't really mind being in there. I don't really advocate keeping your child in a playpen, but sometimes you need to shower, bring groceries inside, whatever else you might need to do without a toddler running around! I would definitely recommend this - it comes with a hefty price tag but well worth it. One down side is that it can't just fold up to be put away. We have had a few parties with it just pushed off to the side of the living room, but other then that worth every penny.
