Worst manual pump! June 21, 2008 Kevin's Mom I bought this manual pump w/o doing any research on it and what a terrible mistake! Compare to the Medela Harmony & Avent ISIS I got later, it is a absolute joke - I couldn't get a drop of breast milk out and it hurts like crazy. If you need a manual pump, do yourself a favor and avoid this one. You cannot go wrong w/ either the Medela or Avent one though (Medela Harmony slightly better IMO since it is BPA-free).
Do Not Buy June 12, 2008 A. Lovett (Murfreesboro, TN) This is a complete waste of money. After the first time I washed the pump, the rubber honeycomb cup that you put on your nipple would not reattach properly so in order to pump I had to have the hard plastic against my nipples. Both of my nipples were bruised. Please spend the extra money and get a Medella pump. There is a reason why hospitals use them, THEY WORK!
I agree with most reviewers! March 4, 2008 Rochelle Jensen (Spring, TX) I agree that this pump is a waste of money, thankfully I was given mine from a friend (still someone's waste)! I tried to use this and it hurt! Nothing came out. I think they tried to copy someone who already did a great job. I highly recommend Avent Isis, but definitely NOT this.
I agree!! Horrible!!! February 27, 2008 ditchqueen (Dover nh United States) I expected a lot more. I own a Whittlestone electric, which I love, and this is made by Whittlestone. I also bought this as an electric and whished I hadn't. It barely pumps any milk, its' painful, (imagine a vacuum on high), and it's stiff, there is no "gentle masassing action" . Don't waste your money, since you can't return it..
This pump saved my supply January 23, 2008 R's Mommy (Kaanzaass!) I bought this pump in desperate hope, because the Avent pump I was using had unpredictable suction and would bruise my breast, so I stopped pumping and could never leave my baby because I had no milk to give the sitter. The Dr. Brown manual pump was gentle on my nipples and I could express way more than with the Avent one. Plus I don't really have to pay attention. I can watch TV or talk on the phone. I can even do it in near darkness (relaxation helps letdown). I did increase my supply and now I have enough milk to send my baby to grandma's house for three days! One of the features like no other is the nipple compression. It stimulates the letdown similarly to baby's mouth. You can control it with the suction valve. lighter suction means not much nipple compression- harder suction means lots of compression and that can shape the nipple some, but it goes away in a minute. I prefer somewhere in between. I give it an A+!
