5 out of 5 stars worth watching   July 31, 2010
MILLIE
i have always loved the series, so when i heard there was a movie i was even more exited. it doesnt compare to the series, but i was very impressed. the best storie by far was the cat from hell. it had the most blood. the worst of the three was the first one whose name leaves me. it was worth watching and mabey buying, but definetly an ok film.

4 out of 5 stars 3 and 1/2 out of 5 for fun and grue filled anthology   July 30, 2010

there is a lot to like about this involving and entertaining fright trilogy . you'll see lots of familiar faces (many of whom have gone on to do additional good or better work elsewhere) . to my mind this is a scarier and more even anthology picture than say the overpraised "Creepshow" or the simply aweful "Twilight Zone : The Movie" among others . i still favor the old Amicus anthologies of the 60s and 70s . they were uneven as well but with no FX assists like this honey . i saw the weaknesses as several . that 80s soundtrack kinda bummed my stone and dated and hobbled the film a pretty fair amount for me . the acting was often very good in this picture (but everyone was not vested in the heavy lifting) . you know who the guilty parties are . lastly , the wrap around story was pretty silly and lame (Particularly from an acting standpoint) . all in all , three pretty solid and scary stories presented with lots of guts and gusto . many young actors and actresses putting good flesh on these cool thrills . plenty of time given to each chiller too . i bought a copy and don't regret it on my second viewing . perfect holloween fair for adults .

4 out of 5 stars Frightful Fun   July 27, 2010

Horror/terror works very well
in the film short
and this collection of three shorts
introduced, connected and concluded
by another short is right on target.

Three (plus one) very enjoyable
horror stories with real bite
and a subtle lightheartedness
that makes the viewing experience
fun as well as scary.
A killer mummy, a killer cat,
a shape-shifting demon
and a cannibal witch.
What more do you want?

If you enjoyed films like "Creepshow"
or television shows such as
"The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits",
then you are in the right place.
("Tales From The Darkside" was a TV show,
but I've never seen it;
I don't know how the film compares to it).

The cinematography and music are good.
There are many good actors such as
Christian Slater, Rae Dawn Chong,
Julianne Moore, David Johansen,
William Hickey, Steve Buscemi
and Blondie vocalist, Deborah Harry.

This collection ought to satisfy
every horror story lover.
Check it out.
I think you'll like it.
I did.

I was told this was an excellent movie, so I saw it was on sale one day on Amazon and picked it up. It was far better than anticipated and was entertaining. I recommended it if you are in for a cheap thrill or just want to watch something a little out of the norm.

3 out of 5 stars Tales of Horror   May 15, 2010

It's no Twilight Zone(old series) or Outer Limits(old or new) but it's entertaining all the same.
