2 out of 5 stars nice looking but not useful   April 3, 2008

This seat looks great, but our baby does not care for it. He fits in it oddly, slumping to one side. The button is difficult to fasten and undo to get him in and out. There is not much bouncing going on. The only way I can see this seat being useful is for pre-highchair feedings, but who would want to mess up something so expensive? Our baby much prefers the ugly, ratty hand-me-down bouncer which doesn't even work properly because the battery compartment is corroded. I wish there was a good-looking bouncer out there that babies' loved, but I don't think it exists...

5 out of 5 stars Baby enjoys this at 4 months old   February 7, 2008

We got this before he was born. As a newborn he only tolerated a few minutes. Now, at 4 months old he can sit for about a half hour while I make dinner. Pros: has loops that are perfect for hanging toys from links - keeps him entertained and is a great learning opportunity- we hang the toys across between the loops and one above him, 'windows' were good for newborn to stare at, style looks good in home, safe, easy to use, the logo really doesn't bother me- most other products are much worse, cover is good if we are outside in the sun to protect his beautiful skin. Cons: baby can't bounce it himself, not as portable as they advertise, cover/windows decrease baby's view around him. I was worried that I spent too much when he was little and didn't like it as much, now I am VERY happy we have it.

2 out of 5 stars looks good but doesnt really bounce   January 27, 2008

i registered for this item purely based on its good looks and cool colors. i am a first time mom, and didnt really think practically. a newborn cannot use this - they are just too small. maybe when my baby is older and bigger it might come in handy, but i am not sure how as it takes alot of effort on my part to make the thing bounce. also, the button hookups dont seem secure, moreover its very hard to fit the button into the holes. honestly the best thing that works for my baby is for me to hold her and bounce up and down on a balance ball. maybe some of the normal looking bouncers actually bounce better.

I purchased this seat because it looked comfortable and functional, while at the same time fit in with my decor. After three months of use, I would not recommend this seat. It only has two features going for it: nice design (although I must agree with a previous reviewer who complained about the svan logo in the front. It's really ugly, especially since it's done in bright royal blue),and screened windows on the side which my daughter likes to stare at. It has many many flaws though:

The three way harness/belt which keeps the baby in the seat closes with a button. This button is long and very difficult to thread through the buttonhole. Very inconvenient, especially when trying to remove a crying baby. Which brings me to the second problem.

The canopy is stationary, only the seat can be moved to a more sitting or laying position. Which means, if your baby is young, and mostly in the laying position, they will have more canopy coverage than if they'd be in a more sitting position. Because of the difficulty with the button, I usually slide my baby in and out, instead of bothering to open and close the button. This is difficult, especially if the seat is in a laying position because the canopy can't be moved back and out of the way. In fact, because it's difficult to slide my daughter in, and even harder to open the button, I find myself using the seat less and less.

The next problem is that the seat is made wide in order for it to fit older babies as well. On the other hand, the back is not angled enough for a younger baby to sink into. My daughter is three months old, and still slowly falls to the side, eventually reaching the belt with her chin. I'm afraid that by the time she's big enough not to fall to the side, she might be too old for it.

Another problem is that the rubber grips on the bottom are constantly falling off. It's a little thing, but unacceptable for an expensive seat such as this.

Lastly, the seat is not much of a bouncer. Even a good push by an adult will only make it bounce twice if you're lucky.

If you're searching for a good looking bouncer, look further. This is not worth it. You might want to look at the Orbit stroller (which can be turned into a rocker). I'll be writing a review on that as soon as I find the time. It's not perfect, but as you'll see in the review, it's as close to perfect as you can get. Or you might have to close your eyes and get one of the ugly but functional ones.

5 out of 5 stars Simple, elegant and functional   June 23, 2007

It's so hard to find contemporary, good-looking, non-plastic furniture for baby's. This bouncer is just what we wanted. Too many kids' things are mostly plastic which is environmentally unsound and usually cheap looking.

We love this piece and it works great for our baby. Nicely portable, too.
