Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
Nina Laden's illustrations in this simple, rhyming board book are truly magical. The format is straightforward: on alternating two-page spreads, the words "Peek a" are repeated, opposite an illustrated page with a die-cut hole, behind which lurks a cow ("MOO!"), a green ghost ("BOO!"), and a mirror (you guessed it, "YOU!"). The youngest readers will delight in trying to guess who--or what--is peeking through the window, and can easily grip the baby-fist-size holes to turn the pages for the answers. The picture of the "ZOO!" is fabulous. Through the hole, all that can be seen is a wild pattern of colors, stripes, and spots. Turn the page, and find a wild kingdom of animals, one in front of the other: peacock, zebra, penguin, cheetah, elephant, and more. Ready for more peekaboo fun? Try Nina Laden's Ready, Set, Go! . (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

5 out of 5 stars My 9 month old's favorite book   February 26, 2010
Jenny F (New York, NY)
This is my 9 month old's favorite book. He smiles whenever he sees it and breaks out into a laugh when I turn the first page to Peek-a-Moo! It holds his attention every time. He's surprisingly not that interested in the mirror in the back, but I like it because then I get to see his face when he's sitting on my lap to read. This is one of the few books I've seen him "reading" all by himself. He just can't get enough of it. I'm actually online to order myself a second copy because the corners of this one are well chewed :) I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for baby!   February 26, 2010
K. Reilly (Kentucky)
This is my 1 year old son's favorite book. He starts kicking his feet the moment it's selected and giggles and coos the whole way through. Perfect for baby through toddler!

5 out of 5 stars Phonetic fun and rhymes for toddlers   February 25, 2010
Technology Nut (San Francisco, CA United States)
Our son loves this book. The play on phonetics is great for learning word association. It is a daily treat to read to him and he loves the surprises revealed of each section. A highly recommended book for toddlers.

3 out of 5 stars short and not inspired   February 15, 2010
S. Johnson (St. Louis, MO United States)
It's okay for what it is but it is not inspired. There is a mirror at end of book which baby liked to look at. I think when he gets older, he can play at guessing what is on next page. But it is really short, only five or so peek-a-who's. And the other reviewer was right. There is no narrative thread that ties the whole book together. The book itself seems to be of good quality, thick boards, good printing.

4 out of 5 stars Good, But Nothing Jaw-Dropping   February 5, 2010
Eleanore O. Nary (Albuquerque NM)
If you are going to get a book along these lines, I would highly recommend the "Peekaboo Zoo: A Lift-The-Flap Book" instead While this book, may be interesting for young babies (7-10 months is my guess) it holds no real mystery or fun, and the appeal is very quickly lost for most children I have read it to. Just my two cents!
