Product Description
This whimsical and hilarious book, featuring nontraditional texts and some of the author's famous animal characters, has been printed on thick board pages, and is sure to educate and entertain children of all ages. Author: Sandra Boynton Illustrator: Sandra BoyntonPublisher: Simon & Schuster

Amazon.com Review
For a little one who is reluctant to go to bed, sometimes a silly book is just the ticket. And when it comes to silly books, Sandra Boynton is the undisputed queen. In The Going to Bed Book, an ark full of animals watches the sun go down and then prepares for bed. They take a bath ("in one big tub"), find pajamas, brush their teeth, do exercises up on deck (imagine an elephant jumping rope, a moose lifting weights, and a pig doing handstands), and finally say good night.
The moon is high. The sea is deep.
They rock
and rock
and rock
to sleep.
Boynton's inimitable animal characters have graced the pages of scads of picture books over the years. She has an extraordinary knack for knowing what appeals to small children: simple rhymes, goofy animals in goofy settings, and sweet, comforting stories. This book, along with her many other board-book titles (Moo, Baa, La La La!, But Not the Hippopotamus, and others) will surely remain a favorite. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

5 out of 5 stars We read this for every nap.   March 1, 2010
K. Reagin
I happen to love this book. It isn't because it says anything particularly amazing - I'm just attached to it since we read it for every nap. We got it at Christmas, when my baby was nine months old, and she's since began really looking at every page (which the lap size is nice for, as she can easily see it all). It's easy enough that you can memorize it, which comes in handy for those times when I need to speed through the "naptime routine" and get her down more quickly.

5 out of 5 stars My Son's Favorite   February 26, 2010
Jack's Mom (Lowell, MA)
Personally, I don't get the appeal of this book. I was totally with the story until the animals all went up to exercise right before bed. Odd. But my son absolutely loves it. I have to stock up on copies because he's quite destructive and since this is his favorite it gets the most wear and tear.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book for Bedtime   December 28, 2009

My little guy loves this book at bedtime. He is twelve months now and it remains one of his favorites along with moo ba la la la and Not the hippopotamus. It gets him perfectly wound down for bed after his bath and it has that certain clever humor Ms Boynton always creates for our little ones. We just bought it for a little friend's one year old birthday and they are falling in love with it also. It is perfect for any baby book collections. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars A bedtime essential!   December 28, 2009
Logan's mom (Los Angeles,CA)
Its hard to believe in one so young, but my 6-month old loves this book.We have read it almost every night since he was a few weeks old. When I feed him his bottle before bed,he sometimes zones out but,the minute he sees this book,he reaches for it and often laughs.Of course, maybe he'd do the same with any night time read.....but I like to think he loves this as much as I do!I actually don't really need the book any more,as I know the story off by heart, but the illustrations are so much fun too.The rhyming and the cadence are just so much fun to listen to.I'm checking out other Boynton books and can't wait until he can say the words too.
