Product Description Eric Carle. Now even younger children can follow the little green caterpillar as he eats his way to becoming a beautiful butterfly in this sturdy board book. Trim size 5.06" x 7.02".
Amazon.com Review "In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf." So begins Eric Carle's modern classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. More than 12 million copies of this book have been sold in its original, full-sized edition, and the beloved tale of science and gluttony has been translated into 20 languages. This five-by-four-inch miniature edition is truly tiny, with tiny type, but it is a nice size for small hands to hold and flip through the pictures. Despite its diminished state, the book is complete in every detail, following the ravenous caterpillar's path as he eats his way through one apple (and the pages of the book itself) on Monday, two pears on Tuesday, three plums on Wednesday, and so on, through cherry pie and sausage--until he is really fat and has a stomachache. And no doubt you know what happens next! Kids love butterfly metamorphosis stories, and this popular favorite teaches counting and the days of the week, too. A fun gift package for caterpillar fans. Book in good shape March 18, 2010 Pallavi Gupta Book was in a good shape even though a handle was missing which could have made it to be carried as a suitcase as the book is huge.
My nine month old loves this book March 8, 2010 J. Siljander I love the size of the book. Its not super big but its not way to small. Its a perfect size. The size brings out the pictures in the book. Would recomend this to any one with kids.
This is truly the miniature version. February 23, 2010 E. Wittke (Fort Wayne, IN United States) Lovely book. Fabulous story. Great pictures. DON'T buy this version though. You really will need glasses to read it.
Crisp, colorful classic keeps charming and educating February 22, 2010 Elise (plt) (US) This charming concept book introduces counting and the concept of life stages of a butterfly. The caterpillar, which is very hungry, eats through several different fruits. The pop ups of the fruits have holes punched in, so, there is sensory manipulation for the little ones, in addition to the depiction of fruits on the several pop up pages, inviting them the explore the idea of numbers. Sense of progression is there, as the eating-through happens during several days, and also at the end the caterpillar eats through junk food in a huge amount, and feels bad.Slight touch of humor, and also opportunity for parents to explain a little bit about good nutrition. But at the and there is cocoon stage, and of course transformation in a beautiful butterfly. This maybe not so correct among most the butterflies, but happens seldom, (more among mots), still, there is a kind of butterfly which goes through this stage, so, the science is not totally incorrect, just doesn't apply to the majority of butterflies.the scientific ambiguity didn't bother me.
the language is extremely simple, and the collages are simple, very colorful, and crisp.Science combined with color and cuteness, no wonder this classic for decades keeps charming, and keeps charming in addition to be one of the first exposures to science during tender age of?...
