Safe, Comfortable Bedtime on the Go
The PeaPod P201 is a lightweight sleeping tent, which comes with an inflatable air mattress to keep your child's bedtime comfortable. An air pump is included. The mattress fits snugly inside the sleeping tent "pod," which features a wraparound mesh canopy with a wide, zippered opening to give parents quick and easy access, or to allow an older child to crawl in and out easily. Your child can nap in comfort outdoors, thanks to the canopy's UV protection and to a wide windscreen. The pod also includes a washable sleeping bag that can double as a sleeping pad.

Travel Light
The last thing you need while you're traveling with a baby or young child is to lug a lot of extra luggage around. Rather than packing a Pack'n'Play or a folding bassinet, which are cumbersome and heavy, simply pack the ultra-light, super-compact PeaPod away in your suitcase. At 19 x 6.5 x 19 inches (LxWxH) when closed, it takes up little space, and it comes with a carrying case for easy portability. And at 52.5 x 34 x 25 inches (LxWxH) when open, the PeaPod will take up little space once you reach your destination.

The PeaPod is also designed to open and fold shut quickly and easily. Other than the included air pump for quickly inflating the small mattress, no tools are needed: simply follow the directions to "snap" it into its standing position, and fold it back down quickly when finished. So whether you're traveling across the country, making a weekend trip to the beach, or simply spending the day at a friend's house, the PeaPod Portable Travel Bed makes it super-easy and convenient for baby to sleep comfortably and safely while on the go.

3 out of 5 stars plastic smell, but very useful   October 7, 2008
Leahbodeah (Portland, Oregon USA)
I have to say this item smelled awful of plastic when I took it out of the package. Talk about toxic off-gassing. But I needed this for a trip, so I let it air out for a week. Even after a week, it smelled of plastic. I think the smell is gone now, and I'm more comfortable using it for my child in a pinch. She loves it, and she is very hard to please, when it comes to bedding! And the ease of taking it with us - travels very well! I wish there was a more organic type of product out there that we could use.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product -- Totally SURPRISED!   October 6, 2008
S. McClernon (Monterey, CA)
We are preparing for a trip to disney land in 3 weeks with my 17 month old son so we decided to try out the peapod to help with hotel sleeping issues. Anyway, we received the peapod on Saturday morning and let him play in it. We decided to only do naps in the peapod and night time in his bed. So, we put him in it for nap that day and he slept an hour and half in it then woke up and wanted out then slept in his bed for another hour and a half (his typical nap is 3 hours). The next day for nap he slept in it for an hour and a half and woke up in it but went back to sleep for another hour or so. Then tonight I was putting him to bed we read our books got down from the rocking chair and I said "its time to go night night" and he crawled into to the peapod rather than his bed (they are both in his room right now). This is coming from a mother of an EXTREMELY picky child when it comes to sleeping - NEVER sleeps in a carseat, NEVER slept in a crib, NEVER falls asleep out and about. Plus the product is great quality, nice looking, etc. I cant wait for our trip and all my sleep anxiety is gone! Woo hoo!

5 out of 5 stars Peapod   October 4, 2008

I was a little worried after reading some of the other reviews about this product. However, we have been extremely pleased with the Peapod. It is so easy to open and close (like a car sunshade or those playtents for kids) and after reading the instructions had no issues getting it closed up. Love the sleeping bag! I would recommend airing it out for a couple of days before use to get the plastic smell out of it. Pumping the mattress is a bit of a chore, but still an awesome product. We have thrown away the pack n play!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Travel Bed   September 19, 2008
DLA (Charlotte, NC USA)
We purchased the Pea Pod Plus for a 2 week trip when our daughter was 20 months. Since we found out about the Pea Pod Plus 2 weeks before our trip and knew it wouldn't arrive until right before our trip, we were really nervous about how our daughter would respond (no time to acclimate her to a new bed). Based on the reviews we decided to take the gamble -- we've used a pack n play on many previous trips and our daughter never responded well to it (she sleeps 12 hours straight in her crib at home but barely makes it 6 hours in a pack n play and would also fight going to bed, which she rarely does at home) -- not to mention the weight and bulk of a pack n play.
We hit the jackpot with the Pea Pod Plus!!! It's awesome!!! Our daughter slept in it as well as she sleeps in her crib. Plus it's so much easier to travel with than a pack n play. Granted, it took some special approaches to get her acclimated. Our daughter had no problem going into the tent and lying down, but we couldn't get her to go to sleep until lights were out (no different than at home). Also, we couldn't zipper the mesh "door" up (without crying fits) until she was asleep. So one of us would hold her hand until she fell asleep / settled down (towards the end of the trip this was no more than a 5-10 minute process). I (at 5' 4") could actually fit into the tent in a fetal position so the first two nights I stayed in the tent for about 30min - 1 hr until she was in a deep sleep (I actually fell asleep myself in the tent!)... Then, once she was asleep, we'd zip it up and sneak into bed ourselves. She did not have any complaints during the night that it was zipped after she was initially settled. We left all the mesh windows "open" (i.e., window / door covers were rolled up) to avoid the tent heating up. Definitely always zip up the mesh door with little ones -- one night we did leave the mesh screen "door" unzipped and she crawled out in her sleep and resumed her sleep on the rug for an unknown amount of time before we noticed (EEK)!

As far as folding the tent back up, I can see why people have problems or get frustrated. I did figure it out, but my husband still hasn't volunteered to try and he hides when it's time to fold the tent (he says I'm more mechanically inclined). If you've used a lot of camping equipment or you've got a good "figuring out how things work engineering type mind", you should have no problem. Otherwise, I'd suggest opening the package really slowly so you can try to get a sense of how it is initially folded up (that's what I did) -- it pops open REALLY fast when you open it so you have to keep a very good grip on it to give yourself time to "figure it out". Also, when folding it up, try to let it guide you -- it "gives" a little when you've got it right. The first step of grabbing and bunching all the arch parts is easy. It's the next step of pulling the bottom sections into a compact cylinder that's the hardest and I've gotten stuck on this part too -- that's where trying different techniques until it "gives" a little helps. Best to try to refold it right after you open it up the first time (that's when it's easiest to fold back up) -- practice as many times as possible until you feel comfortable.

4 out of 5 stars Good travel bed, not as big as others would have you believe   September 15, 2008
Princess Brooklynn's Mommy (Surprise, Az.)
We haven't traveled with it yet, but my 2yr old daughter was so excited about her new 'tent' that she wanted to try it at home as soon as we got it. Which is a good idea since I wouldn't want to be caught far from home with no where for her to sleep (she doesn't sleep in our bed with us). Here are some thoughts about the bed that others thinking about purchasing it may find useful.
* The bed has a terrible plastic/chemical smell when you first take it out, so I would air it out for at least a day before putting kids in there. I had ours up for 2 days before we used it, and we haven't even used the sleeping bag yet.
* It isn't hard to fold if you follow the directions. It helps to keep them and reference them when you are in the process of folding the bed. We have had no problems with putting it up or taking it down. It's actually quite easy.
* It isn't as big as other reviewers would have you think. We bought it to replace the pack-n-play which is getting to be a little bit small for our daughter. She is 2yrs old and fits in the peapod great, but I cant see her using this item for more than a year (two at most), which is ok since she will most likely be in a bigger bed by then anyway. By the way, those that say they get in with their kids must looove cramped spaces. I'm only 5'1" and I could only stand to be in there with her for a minute or two because it was not nearly big enough for both of us.
* As other reviewers mentioned, it gets really hot in the tent, even with only the netting flap closed. Granted, my daughter is a hot sleeper, but we keep our house at 77 degrees (it's summer) and I had her ceiling fan on high and she still woke from her nap soaked in sweat. Next time I'll try not closing any flaps and if that doesn't work, I'll try a tower fan on the floor so that it sweeps the tent once in a while.
All in all, I would recommend purchasing it from a site or store that has a great return policy (or even from Target so that you could return it to the store to save on return shipping)and try it out at home before you travel.
