Fisher-Price and Amazon.com have teamed up to offer this item in Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging, a recyclable, easy-to-open alternative to traditional packaging. A Frustration-Free Package comes without excess packaging materials such as hard plastic "clamshell" casings, plastic bindings, and wire ties. It’s designed to be opened without the use of a box cutter or knife and will protect your product just as well as traditional packaging during shipping. The new packaging eliminates 36 inches of plastic coated wire ties, 1,576.5 square inches of printed corrugated package inserts, and 36.1 square inches of printed folding carton materials. Also eliminated are 175.25 square inches of PVC blisters, 3.5 square inches of ABS molded styrene, and two molded plastic fasteners. This item ships in its own box, without the need for an additional shipping box.
 Plenty of Imaginative Action
The pirates have plenty to do, thanks to special "action points" all over the ship. Your child can simply place a pirate on one of the ship's five special areas, turn the figure, and watch the action! The pirates can lower the ship's sails, drop the anchor, and fire the three hidden cannons. Two pirates can even fight a duel, and the captain can extend the plank for some unlucky soul to walk. Like all Fisher Price toys, the Adventures Pirate Ship is built tough, with larger pieces that are easier and safer for little hands to manipulate. It includes three pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, a treasure map, treasure chest filled with treasure, and a cannon that really works. Additional accessories are sold separately. Your child will have hours of fun entering an imaginary world of adventure. However, pirates should use this ship on an imaginary sea only -- it's not built for use in real water.  Lots of little parts, but still a good toy all in all... December 29, 2008

My son is 3 so I definitely see most of the parts and people getting lost, but the main ship is very fun to play with regardless! I do wish that some of the parts were permanent because they really make the ship look gorgeous, but are very easy to remove and so they don't stay on even through the normal play process. Nonetheless, every button, lever, etc leads to another fun discovery... sails move up and down... the cannons engage for battle...all in all i am satisfied with the toy and my son loves playing with it. Just be prepared to lost most of the accessories.

I was used to the usual Chinese junk. I bought several toys on amazon.com and thought that I will decide upon opening which toy goes to which child.We were so impressed with quality of this ship that we ended up keeping this gift for our 4 1/2-old boy.There are a number of little parts, so I would not recommend it to a 3 year-old or younger. There are lots of ways your child can play with the ship.Our son loved it.

I bought this for my 3.5 year old son. He loves it and plays with it for hours. My 2 year old son and 4.5 year old daughter also love to play with this ship. Lots of different ways to play and I love that the pieces can be stored in the ships floor.

My son loves his pirate ship and has even taken the captain to bed with him. The toy is easy to use and nothing has fallen apart like what was mentioned in earlier reviews. The cannons are red missiles instead of cannon balls now and he hasn't even lost them yet! This is one of my favorites of my kids toys because I enjoy listening to him com up with and act our his story plots!
