my grandson's favorite Christmas toy. January 3, 2009 A. C. Jackson (Philadelphia) I bought this toy as a gift for my 5 year old grandson. He absolutely loved it. The lights and sounds made him feel like a real police officer. It took a few moments to figure out how to make the handle bar and microphone work, but after I showed my grandson what to do, he mastered the controls quickly.
Fun Toy ... After we figured out how it worked December 31, 2008 Michelle Chance (Florida) We bought both this toy and the race car helmet for our nephews, 3 and 6. The Police Helmet didn't work right out of the box. There were no instructions in the box or on the helmet. We were at a retail store today and saw that instructions were on the helmet face, but ours didn't have any instructions. We changed the batteries twice trying to make it work. We finally got it working after seeing the "sync" a video on the Toys R Us website. It would be nice if there were some instructions on this site that shows how have to Sync it up when you turn it on. The 3 year old is really enjoying it, but it seems like a helmet strap is missing or installed wrong because its barely long enough to fit around his chin, and the 6 year old can't strap it at all.
Fun toy. December 30, 2008 M. Willett (Jackson, MI USA) The directions do not tell you to push the button on the helmet while wearing it to activate the hand controller. Other than that, it is a fun toy and all the kids at the birthday party, especially the 4-yr old boy, liked it. My son is 6 and it fit fine, except we were unable to use the tiny chin strap.
fun now that it works December 29, 2008 athomp Got this toy from Santa and child was disappointed that the controller didn't work. READ directions!!!! We didn't...:) I don't remember seeing any. After reading another review, we got everything to work right. Put helmet on, controller in child's hands, put switch to "on" on the helmet, not "try me", push hemlet button, and then the controller will work. Just did all this moments ago and the toy works great and child is thrilled. Been running around driveway ever since.
Good but needs better design December 29, 2008 mom of 2 My 3 1/2 year old son got the police helmet for xmas this year. He LOVES it, but the first one broke after playing with it for about 30 min. the helmet and handheld part just stopped working, we changed the batteries and still nothing. We returned it and got another one and so far so good. It seems real durable but the only concerns I have is the volume (seems very loud) and the chin strap. We can't seem to get my sons helmet to fit right. He doesn't have a small head and the helmet is always falling back and the chin stap rubs against his chin. It doesn't seem to bother him. The other thing is the microphone, you have to have your mouth up against the mic to make it work well. He loves it though, he played with it for 6 hours straight the other day and woke up asking to play with it again. my 18 month old loves it too. It is a good toy just needs some improvements.
